ASA Midwest Tour Comes to MIS This Friday

by John Wells

One of the most-anticipated events of the 2007 racing season comes to Madison International Speedway this Friday night when the ASA Midwest Tour comes to Wisconsin's Fastest Half-Mile.

It will be a full day of racing and fun at MIS with practice sessions beginning at 1:00 PM. Come see the best super late model drivers in the Midwest due battle in a 100 lap feature. It's going to be a tough feature field to make as the list of drivers coming looks like a “Who's Who” of short track racing.

See NASCAR stars Kyle Busch, Johnny Sauter, Tim Sauter, and Ron Hornaday along with local legends Rich Bickle Jr., a two-time track champion, and Dick Trickle, the winningest driver ever at Madison with 72 feature wins to his credit. Former NASCAR Southeast champion JR Norris of Hueytown, Alabama, will be making his first appearance at MIS.

However the list of talented drivers does not end there. The ASA Midwest Tour also features a group of touring stars representing tracks from throughout the Midwest. These drivers include Kenny Richards of Montello, Wisconsin, Dan Fredrickson of Elko,Minnesota, Nathan Haseleu of Pardeeville, Wisconsin, Rod Wheeler of Hortonville, Wisconsin, Josh Vadnais of White Bear Lake, Minnesota, Brad Mueller of Random Lake, Wisconsin, former MIS track champion Dave Feiler of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, Donny Reuvers of Dundas, Minnesota, Adam Royle of Farmington, Minnesota, Steve Carlson of West Salem, Wisconsin, Travis Sauter of Sauk City, Wisconsin, and Jamie Iverson of Escanaba, Michigan. “Our driver list proves that experience is what makes you successful. Our events have had very few cautions and the amount of driving experience is unreal. Just count up the number of track championships amongst our group and you'll be amazed,” commented Steve Einhaus of the ASA Midwest Tour.

The July 20th event at Madison International Speedway will be part of th e “Summer Shootout Series.” According to series vice president Steve Einhaus, “We have put together a fantastic group of NASCAR drivers to compete in the series this summer and it gives our fans a wide variety of entertainment valueÉthe list of drivers that will be racing with us shows how important it is to them to help everyone stay successful. We are honored that they chose our series and especially happy to pass it along to each race track.”

Fans are encouraged to purchase their tickets in advance by going to the Madison International Speedway website at madisoninternationalspeedway.com. Fans will save money by purchasing tickets in advance and Click n Print is going to pick five (5) random fans and a guest who have purchased advance tickets and automatically upgrade them to the VIP area on race day. This is also a charity event for Wisconsin Special Olympics thanks to Kwik Trip Stores. “Fans are really going to be in for a treat,”commented Einhaus.

The limited late models and INEX Legends will also be in action. This will be a points race for the limited late models. Please note the schedule as practice and qualifying will be at different times than a normal Friday night.
