LIDDLE GETS HUGE BIG 8 SERIES WIN AT MADISON By: Kevin Ramsell Friday, July 27, 2007 (Oregon, WI) - Brady Liddle has been a long time competitor at Madison International Speedway. In fact, he was racing with a chassis that was built in 1994. Tonight, he picked up his biggest win in his career as he became another first time winner in the Big 8 Series action at MIS. Prior to the start of the event, Big 8 Series officials along with Madison International Speedway officials decided to reduce the feature event to 38-laps as the track neared its curfew time. Mike Ehde and Brady Liddle led the field of 30 cars to Greg Oliver's green flag for the start of the feature event. The two battled side-by-side for the lead after the first lap. The first caution flew on lap 2 when Tom Schuette spun coming out of turn four. Liddle was shown as the leader and he led the field back to the single file re-start. On the re-start, Ricky Bilderback made a quick inside move on Ehde to take over the second spot going into turn one while Liddle jumped out to a five car length lead. Jeff Steenburgen moved from his fifth starting spot to take over third from Ehde on lap 9. It wasn't an easy pass as the two got together in turn two and it allowed Steenburgen to bolt into third. At the halfway mark, Liddle continued his lead over Bilderback while working his way through lap traffic. Steenburgen was in third with Scott Broughton chasing him down. Ryan Goldade was running in fifth. The second caution flew on lap 27 when Matt Byrne and current Big 8 Series point leader Jeremy Miller got together in turn one causing Miller to spin. Both were sent to the rear. The caution flag would allow the top five to close up nose to tail without lap traffic in between as they were getting spread out from the long green flag run. Liddle continued to lead over Bilderback on the re-start with 12 laps to go. The third caution flew with seven laps to go when Miller and Cliff Rucks got together in turn one. Liddle continued to lead with five laps to go, while Steenburgen looked at taking over second from Bilderback. This allowed Liddle to pull out to a huge lead. With three laps to go, Steenburgen bolted to second going down the backstretch. Steenburgen would run out of laps in his attempt to catch Liddle as he would go on to collect his first Big 8 Series win. Steenburgen was second with Bilderback in third. Goldade would finish fourth and Broughton rounded out the top five. This is the biggest win ever, Liddle said in victory lane. This is awesome, I would have smoked the tires off but they still have some tread left in them. Steenburgen and Liddle won the qualifier heats. Gary Back and Andy Niles won the positioning heat races. Wilberg was the fast qualifier with a time of 18.820 seconds (95.642 seconds). The Big 8 Series will meet again on Tuesday, August 7 at Wisconsin International Raceway in Kaukauna, WI. This will be the first visit the half-mile D shaped oval. They will be running in support of the ASA Midwest Tour's Factory Motor Parts 150.
