It's Super Friday at Madison International Speedway this Friday night! This will definitely be one of our biggest Friday night programs of the 2007 season, said MIS General Manager Dave Grueneberg. The name Super Friday will apply very well to what fans will see on the track this week. Highlighting the racing program will be the return of the super late models who will be competing in the Bob Schmelzer 100. Schmelzer is celebrating fifty years in the racing business and the staff at MIS is recognizing him by naming the race in his honor. Bob is a great guy and we wanted to let Bob and his wife Darlene know how much all of us appreciate what they have done for the sport, added Grueneberg. Bob has worked all over the Midwest and still mans the pit gate here at MIS every night. A very competitive super late model field is expected to be on hand. The super late model event will pay $3000 to the winner with all drivers starting the feature getting at least $400. We had a great ASA Midwest Tour race here a couple of weeks ago and hope to see many of those cars back along with many of the WCS drivers who were here back in May, commented Grueneberg. We have a great purse and are looking forward to seeing the best of the best in action on Friday night. In addition to the super late models, the three weekly MIS divisions will also be in action including the Weaver Auto Parts Madison Late Models, Rockweiler Insulation Limited Late Models, and Roto Rooter Bandits. All three divisons have exciting point races shaping up with Bobby Wilberg currently leading both the Madison Late Models and Limited Late Models while Steve Dickson sits atop the leader board in the Bandits. The Laborer's Union Local 464 will be sponsoring the event. For the past several years the labor union has brought their members to MIS to enjoy a night of food, drink, and fun. Our group seems to grow each year and we are expecting over 1,000 of our members, their families, and friends to be at MIS on Friday night, said John Mathews of the Local 464. A revised schedule will be in effect for Friday. Pit gates will open at Noon with a practice session scheduled for 2:00 - 4:00 PM. After a short break, hot laps will begin at 4:45 with qualifying slated for 6:15 and the first race at 7:30. This is going to be a great deal for our fans as regular admission prices will apply including the fact that kids eleven and under are admitted free, said MIS Marketing Manager Holly Coley.
