MIS Announces Revisions to Fall Classic by John Wells Saturday, September 15, 2007 (Oregon, WI) Several changes were announced today for next weekend's Fall Classic at Madison International Speedway. Instead of running a combined division, the American Short Trackers and Internationals will now have their own divisions. "We heard from some of the drivers who were concerned about the differences in the two divisions so we decided to let them run separately," said MIS General Manager Dave Grueneberg. The Short Trackers and International divisions will be racing on Saturday night. All Madison Late Model who are racing on Friday night are also eligible to compete with the Super Late Models on Saturday night. MLM cars may race with a weight of 2600 pounds. The Modified division will be a two barrel carburetor event with eight inch tires. Modifieds with crate motors may compete with a four barrel carburetor. The Modifieds will be on the Saturday portion of the racing program. All four cylinder enduro competitors will be required to have a scorer for their 150 lap event on Saturday night. The most noticeable of the changes will be a reconfiguration of the quarter mile as the track will be extended towards the flagstand on the front stretch. "This was the original plan when the track was first designed. It's become way too tight on the inside coming out of four and going into one. The change will mean drivers will have to take more of a higher line coming out of four," said Grueneberg. Friday night events presented by Werner Electric include the Madison Late Models, Area Sportsman, Hobby Stocks, Bandits, INEX Legends, INEX Bandoleros, and a "Double O" race open to all cars except the Bandoleros and Legends. The 2007 MIS Celebrity Championship race will also be held on Friday night. Saturday's program sponsored by Budweiser will feature the Super Late Models, Limited Late Models, USST Super Trucks, American Short Trackers, Internationals, Modifieds, FIRA, and a four cylinder enduro. Pit gates open at 10:00 AM on both Friday and Saturday with hot laps slated to begin at Noon. Qualifying on Friday begins at 5:00 with racing at 7:00. Saturday's qualiyfing begins at 4:00 with racing at 6:00.
