A race fan - a big supporter of racing at MIS - a husband - a father - a grandfather - a friend. All of these words can be used to describe Wayne Forsythe of Wayne's Custom DIECAST who passed away on Friday, November 7th at the age of 55 following a brief but courageous battle with cancer.

Forsythe was best known as the sponsor of the Wayne's Custom DIECAST Dash Series most recently for the limited late models and the Hard Charger Program. “Wayne was the racer's friend. He was a huge supporter of racing at MIS and cared so much about these guys that he put together his own program to show his commitment,” said MIS General Manager Dave Grueneberg.

Forsythe presented the Dash winners with a trophy and the overall winners of his program with a diecast replica of their cars at the annual MIS banquet. “Wayne's diecast work was unbelievably accurate and something the lucky drivers who received one really appreciated,” added Grueneberg.

It wasn't unusual to see Wayne and his wife Donna walking through the pits signing up drivers for their program. “Wayne was pretty persistent and wanted all of the drivers to be part of his series. He designed a logo sticker and all he asked from the drivers was that they display it on their car,” added MIS Marketing Manager Holly Coley.

Forsythe also sponsored the #18 Limited Late Model of Brady Liddle of Oregon, Wisconsin. He described Liddle as a driver that didn't have an unlimited budget and who did most of the work on his car by himself. Forsythe felt that Liddle represented what local racing was all about.

“I always bugged Wayne about getting behind the microphone in victory lane or at the banquet. I know he was kind of nervous about speaking in front of crowds but once he got the mic in front of him he always spoke from the heart,” said MIS Media Director John Wells. “In fact at one of our banquets several years ago he took time to tell the audience about his wife's health issues at the time. He also was a huge Dale Earnhardt fan and attempted to share a tribute to the late driver during another banquet but his emotions got the best of him. It was always from the heart with Wayne.”

A celebration of Wayne's life will take place at Monona United Methodist Church located at 606 Nichols Road in Monona, Wisconsin, on Wednesday, November 12th at Noon. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.

Wayne will be deeply missed by his family, his friends, and the racing community. We are all better people for the time we got to spend with him.

As it said in his obituary in the Wisconsin State Journal, “Here's one for you Wayne: Forever 3! May you now get the chance to meet your hero.”
