Kenseth & Stewart Look Forward To Their Fourth Appearance Together At Madison International Speedway 2009 Daytona 500 Champion & current NASCAR Sprint Cup Points Leader will once again compete in The Swiss Colony All-Star Challenge event. Courtesy Kevin Ramsell CAMBRIDGE, WI (Wednesday, June 17, 2009) - Matt Kenseth, the 2009 Daytona 500 Champion and Tony Stewart, the current NASCAR Sprint Cup Series points leader will be making their fourth appearance together at The Swiss Colony All-Star Challenge on Tuesday, June 30th at Madison International Speedway in Oregon, WI. Both of the drivers are looking forward to returning to their short track roots. Kenseth, who is the 1994 MIS track champion and the 2003 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Champion, won the event in 2007 and finished second twice in 2006 to Kelly Bires and last year to Steve Carlson. "I always enjoy coming back to race at Madison," Kenseth recently stated. "I spent a lot of time racing here early in my career, so I always look forward to competing there and seeing a lot of my family and friends." He will once again team up with his friends Joe Wood and Jason Schuler at Pathfinder Chassis, who will be preparing his Super Late Model for this event. "Joe and Jason at Pathfinder always give me good stuff to drive so that's a bonus that makes it even more enjoyable," Kenseth stated. Pathfinder Chassis will also be preparing the Super Late Model that Stewart will be competing in. In his three previous events, he has finished 8th in 2006 & 2007, and finished 16th in last year's event. For Stewart, he has a special reason to coming and competing at a local short track like MIS, "What I like the most about it is the fans that go to short track races. They're a different breed than your typical NASCAR fans. They don't lose their minds when they see you come in. They're excited that you're there but they're respectful of your time and respectful of your space. They're just excited to see you come and race at a place that they come to every week. The fans that go to a short track are diehard race fans. It's not about the fancy, popular drivers there every week," Stewart said. "It's about seeing good, local short-track action on a local level, seeing their own local heroes grow up, seeing the Matt Kenseth's that they watched every week there grow up to be Sprint Cup drivers. It's neat to see. They're some of the most dedicated fans. They sit there in the rain, they sit there through thunderstorms. It's incredible." He is also looking forward to his fourth visit to Wisconsin's Fastest Half-Mile Oval, "I thought it was a really nice facility. The track personnel there does a really good job keeping everything organized," Stewart exclaimed. "The show runs really fast and smooth. And they've got a nice racetrack. I've been to a lot of short pavement tracks that aren't near as nice as what Madison's got. In my opinion, it's definitely one of the top-notch short tracks in the country." Both Kenseth and Stewart will be competing in a 100-lap Super Late Model event against some of the best Super Late Model drivers in the Midwest including 2007 ASA Midwest Tour Champion Nathan Haseleu, 2006 NASCAR Midwest Series Champion Tim Schendel, 1995 ASA National Champion Bryan Reffner, and two-time National Short Track Champion Jeremy Lepak, to name a few. Also competing that night will be the Big 8 Series Late Models in a 38-lap event. Ross Kenseth will be back to attempt to win his second Big 8 Series event in a row at MIS. Earlier this year, Kenseth picked up his third overall win in the Series at MIS. Last year's race saw a finish that literally came down to inches as Ryan Carlson beat Michael Bilderback at the line for the win. Advance tickets are on sale now at the MIS track office and at Clear Channel Madison, located at 2651 Fish Hatchery Road in Madison. Both are open during normal business hours. MIS will also have tickets available during their Friday night racing programs. There are plenty general admission tickets available on raceday and will go on sale starting at noon. Practice will be taken place from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Qualifying is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m. with racing underway at 7:00 p.m. For more information about MIS, please visit their website at www.madisoninternationalspeedway.com.
