| Scott Broughton and Dave Feiler Take Home Late Model Checkered Flags at MIS Goldade, Ace, Moyer, and Fassett Also Winners. By John Wells Oregon, WI (Friday, August 21, 2009)- Scott Broughton won the Wayne's Custom DIECAST 30 and Dave Feiler took home the win in the Miller Lite 30 for the Rockweiler Insulation Late Models as part of Laborer's Union Local 464 Night at Madison International Speedway. Other winners included Ryan Goldade in the Brown Heating and Air Conditioning Area Sportsman, Don Fassett in the Weaver Auto Parts Hobby Stocks, Chester Ace in the Roto Rooter Bandits, and Aaron Moyer in the Pellitteri Waste Systems Legends. Broughton and Feiler Victorious in Late Model Events It was Twin 30s for the Rockweiler Insulation Late Models tonight with Scott Broughton and Dave Feiler each picking up a win. Scott Broughton started on the pole for the Wayne's Custom DIECAST 30 and led wire to wire to pick up his second feature win of the season. Joined by Nathan Oppliger on the front row, Broughton jumped out to the early lead in the twenty-four car event with Ryan Goldade and Jeremy Miller up to second and third respectively after the first lap. On lap 4 both Bobby Wilberg and Dave Feiler joined the top five before the caution came out for a spin on lap 8. Broughton would continue to lead after the restart with both Wilberg and Feiler moving up to second and third place by lap 12. The yellow flag waved again on lap 13 for a spin and would also come out on laps 14 and 20 with Broughton able to maintain his lead each time the green flag waved. Thirty laps would not be enough for either Wilberg or Feiler to catch Broughton as he cruised to the checkered flag and a 0.407 second margin of victory over Wilberg. Goldade and Miller rounded out the top five. It felt like the race was a lot longer than thirty laps. I kept looking and it was like twenty to go, fifteen to go. It's great racing with a group of veteran drivers like this. We've had some rough luck the past few weeks here so it's great to get it done tonight. We're happy to be here, said Broughton. Broughton was presented with the Wayne's Custom DIECAST trophy by Donna Forsythe in honor of her husband Wayne who passed away in 2009 and was a long-time supporter of racing at MIS. During pre-race ceremonies Wayne Forsythe was honored as all twenty-four late model cars came on the track for a moment of silence and a parade lap. Kevin Knuese and John Baumeister Jr. brought the twenty-three car field to the green flag in the second feature, the Miller Lite 30 for the Rockweiler Insulation Late Models. Baumeister, last week's feature winner, jumped out to the early lead after a caution on the start and it looked like it might be a repeat from the week before. As Baumeister started to build some distance between himself and his fellow competitors, Miller was up to second followed by Feiler, Wilberg, and Goldade by lap 3. On lap 10 Feiler would fly past Miller for second before the caution flag came out on lap 11 for a spin. Baumeister would continue to lead the way until lap 15 when Feiler powered by him for the lead with Miller right behind him. The caution flag would come out two more times for spins on lap 16 and 21. Feiler would continue his lead over the field with Miller and Wilberg battling it out for second place. In the end it was all Dave Feiler as he captured the checkered flag with a 0.361 advantage over Miller. Wilberg would finish third followed by Baumeister and Zack Riddle. Despite having to start from the back of the field after going to the pits for repairs at the start of the race, Broughton was able to race all the way up to sixth place. This is our first win in the Late Model division here. It seems like it's taken a long time but we've worked really hard to get here. We've had a good car this year but it just didn't seem like we had a whole lot of luck. This win has been a long time coming and I've got to thank Jon Minor (car owner) for giving me this opportunity, said Feiler from victory lane. Wilberg set fast time with a lap of 18.765 with heat wins going to JD Leonard, Cliff Rucks, and Broughton. Rockweiler Insulation Late Models 30 Lap Wayne's Custom DIECAST Feature#1: 1. Ryan Goldade Rules the Area Sportsman Ryan Goldade won his first feature of the 2009 season by topping a ten car field in the 20 lap event for the Brown Heating and Air Conditioning Area Sportsman. Starting on the pole, Goldade took the lead from the start and never looked back as he quickly built a sizeable margin over Stephen Scheel. Point leader Jay Kalbus moved into third place on lap 4 and overtook Scheel for second two laps later. Bobby Wilberg got by Scheel for third on lap 8 with Goldade still experiencing smooth sailing out front. But with each completed lap, Kalbus and Wilberg were slowly closing the gap. On lap 16 Wilberg would power by Kalbus for second place and take aim on Goldade. Coming fast, Wilberg would make his way to the outside of Goldade to try to take the lead. But Goldade was not to be denied as he held of Wilberg to pick up the win and a visit to the Rick's Lawn and Garden Service Victory Lane. Kalbus would finish in third followed by Scheel and Kurt Kleven. It's the first time in victory lane for like three years for this car, said Goldade who teams with his brother TJ. I didn't know if I was going to be able to hold Wilberg off or not so we'll definitely take this win. Wilberg set fast time with a lap of 20.155 with Goldade winning the heat race. Chester Ace Captures Bandit Feature You never would have known Chester Ace and Lee Haag were brothers-in-law as they battled it out for top honors in the 20 lap feature for the Roto Rooter Bandits. In the end it would be point leader and defending champion Ace going to victory lane for the fifth time in 2009. Sixteen cars answered the call for the feature event with rookies Jovanni DiMaggio and Teresa Verburgt bringing the field to the green flag. DiMaggio would get out to the early advantage with Jody Schmidt up to second on lap 3 and side by side with the leader on lap 5. Schmidt would move by DiMaggio on lap 6 followed by Jon Coker, Verburgt, and Haag. Schmidt would continue his lead despite caution flags on laps 12, 14, and 15. Meanwhile Ace had cracked the top five on lap 12 and along with Haag was ready to challenge for the lead. On lap 16 Ace made his move and dropped to the inside of both Schmidt and Haag to take over the top spot. The caution flag would wave one more time on lap 18 for a spin setting up a green, white, checker finish. Despite heavy pressure from Haag, Ace would hold him off to pick up the win and increase his lead in the point standings. Following Ace, who started twelvth, and Haag in the top five were Schmidt, Kyle Padfield, and Cory Skolaksi. It was quite a run for Padfield who went to the back of the pack on lap 14 and raced his way back to fourth. We weren't really good in practice but the car ran well when it counted tonight, said Ace when interviewed by Jim Steinke. When asked about his brother-in-law Lee Haag, Ace added, He's just starting here this year. We gave him a car and he can drive. Ace was fastest in qualifying with a lap of 15.385 while heat wins went to Jon Coker and Cory Skoalski. Roto Rooter Bandits 20 Lap Feature:1. Chester Ace (Oregon, WI), 2. Three in a Row for Aaron Moyer Aaron Moyer made it three wins in a row in the Pellitteri Waste Systems Legends after holding off Max McNamara for the victory in the 20 lap feature. Hermann Greinig and Kyle Justis brought the field of twelve Legends to the green flag with Greinig getting out to the lead from the start. Brandon Heisler was quickly up to challenge Greinig for the lead, but the veteran driver from Addison, Illinois, looked like he had what it took to pick up his first feature win. That is until lap six. As Heisler moved to the inside going into turn one the two made contact bringing out the caution flag and sending both cars to the rear of the field. This moved Moyer and McNamara up to the top two positions and it appeared that it was going to be another two car battle. From here on out the race stayed caution free and despite some pressure from McNamara, Moyer would be able to hold him for the win and a trip to victory lane. Completing the top five were Adam Rawski, Cullen Camasta, and Greinig. I've really had to adjust my driving line from the beginning of the year. It really helps watching the video to make adjustments like this, said Moyer who has perfected the pass out of turn four on the Ring of Fire. McNamara set fast time with a lap of 13.876 with Tim Narr and Moyer winning the eight lap heat races. Pellitteri Waste Systems Legends 20 Lap Feature:1. Aaron Moyer (Eden, WI), 2. Fassett First in Hobby Stock Feature Don Fassett captured his second feature win of the season and remained in the championship hunt after winning the 15 lap main event for the Weaver Auto Parts Hobby Stocks. Joey Thomas and Terry Ciano Jr. led the seven car field to the green flag. Ciano Jr. was the quickest from the start as he surged ahead of Thomas for the lead. Despite the early advantage for Ciano Jr., Fassett was clearly up for the challenge as he pulled alongside Ciano Jr. on lap 3. On lap 4 Fassett would find the room he needed on the inside and pass Ciano Jr. for the lead while coming out of turn two. On lap 7 Todd Ambrose would take over second place from Ciano Jr. and focus his attention on catching Fassett. But Ambrose wouldn't have enough laps to do it as Fassett held him off at the end to pick up the victory. Ciano Jr. would finish third followed by Chad Knaus and Thomas. In a post race interview Fassett was asked about holding off Ambrose. He's a very clean racer. I could see him coming and wasn't sure if we could hold him off. I hope I drove him clean because he's fast and we're happy to get the win. Ambrose was fast qualifier with a lap of 21.898 while the eight lap heat win went to Ciano Jr. Weaver Auto Parts Hobby Stocks 15 Lap Feature:1. Don Fassett (Wisconsin Dells, WI), 2.
