Final Round of Super Late Model Triple Crown is Tonight

Final Round of Super Late Model Triple Crown Challenge is Tonight

by John Wells

There's nothing like the excitement of live racing and that's what we will serve up tonight at Madison International Speedway.  So bring your family and friends out for an evening of fun.

Tonight is the third round of the Super Late Model Triple Crown Challenge along with the Dave’s White Rock Sportsman and the Pellitteri Waste Systems Bandits.

Dave Feiler is the current leader in the Triple Crown standings with a thirteen point advantage over Chris Wimmer (216-203).  Defending champion Casey Johnson is in third with 189 points followed by Michael Bilderback and Jeremy Miller.  Feiler and Travis Sauter picked up the wins in the first two events.

This will be a 100 lap race paying $2500 to win and $500 to start.

Feiler is also the leader in the season points for the Super Late Models at Madison as points for the Triple Crown events also count in the season championship standings. Feiler is looking for his fourth track championship after titles in 1998, 2002, and 2003.  Feiler is also sixth on the all-time list of Super Late Model feature winners at Madison.  He currently has a 708-625 lead over Jeremy Miller with two races remaining on the schedule.  Bobby Kendall (591), Bobby Wilberg (576), and Russ Blakely (469) round out the top five.

There is a tie for the top spot in the B and B Lawn Care Dash Series for the Super Late Models between Feiler and Kendall who each have 42 points.  Kendall has picked up three dash victories this season with Feiler, Bilderback, Wimmer, and Kyle Shear each taking home one victory.  Prize money will go to the overall top six finishers at the end of the season.  Here are the overall Dash standings:

Kody Hubred is looking for his first ever track championship at Madison in the Dave’s White Rock Sportsman, but so are Ryan Goldade and Will Rece who are close behind.  Powered by his five feature wins, Hubred has totaled 909 points so far this year with Goldade at 898 and Rece with 886.  The racing in this division has been very competitive all season long and with three races remaining on the schedule it’s going to go down to the final lap on August 29th.

Another driver looking for his first track championship is Dan Snyder who leads the way in the points chase in the Pellitteri Waste Systems Bandits.  Snyder has a 115 point lead over Brandon DeLacy (770-655) with three races remaining on the schedule.  Jason Coker, Jon Coker, and Dave Wickstrum round out the top five.

Pit gates open at 3:30 with practice at 4:45, qualifying at 6:00, opening ceremonies at 7:15 and racing at 7:30.  Adult admission is $15.00 / Seniors and Students are $13.00 / Kids 11 and under are free.  Grandstand ticket stubs from August 1st are good for this race.
