30 and Growing: The Return of the Super Late Models to MIS

Thirty and Growing:  Early Registration Shows Commitment to Super Late Model Racing at MIS

MIS Business / Marketing Manager Jason Tyler knew there was interest in super late model racing at Wisconsin’s Fastest Half-Mile, so he put together a great offer for drivers / teams to register early.  When the end of February rolled around a total of thirty teams had registered.

“We are very happy at the results of the early registration.  We gave the drivers a pretty good deal to save money during the four events we will be running for the Triple Crown Challenge this season and they jumped at the opportunity,” said Tyler.  Triple Crown events are scheduled for June 16, July 14, July 28, and September 8 at the historic speedway.

Of course, drivers can still register their intentions to race even though they might not qualify for the early savings.  “We are expecting to see many more drivers throwing their hat in the ring for the Triple Crown Challenge in 2013. There are still a lot of great drivers talking about  running.” added Tyler. Jason also encourages teams to contact him for more information.

Events this year are scheduled to pay $2500 to win and $450 to start and with a new point system that guarantees a down to the last lap race for the championship it’s easy to see why there’s all of the excitement this early.

One of the drivers who is hoping to continue his success from 2012 into the new season is Travis Sauter. After Triple Crown Challenge champion Nathan Haseleu won the first three features, Sauter put together an amazing string of five feature wins in a row.  In addition to his five Triple Crown victories he also picked up the Midwest Tour win in August so he comes into 2013 with six checkered flags in a row.

But there are twenty-nine other drivers as of now who aren’t about to let Sauter repeat his accomplishments of 2013.  Stars from across the region such as Andrew Morrissey, Austin Luedtke, Jeff Storm, Rich Bickle Jr., Dennis Prunty, Bobby Wilberg and others have big goals for 2013.  Dale Nottestad, Casey Johnson, and Chuck Garetson, who raced Late Models at Madison in 2012, are planning to show their talents in the Super Late Models in 2013 also.

“We really have a solid field of teams and it’s going to continue to grow as the word gets out.  The real winners are going to be the fans. We are working very hard to make sure we have the Best Stock Car Racing in the country in 2013 and going forward,” noted Tyler.

Fans are encouraged to monitor the track website as driver features will be updated frequently. We also ask that you pass the word along to you friends, family, and coworkers letting them know about our schedule and website.

Racing at Madison begins on May 5th with the ARCA Midwest Tour and the Joe Shear Classic along with the INEX Legends.
