Madison International Speedway is announcing some exciting schedule revisions for the 2012 racing season.
The season opener on May 6th will feature the ASA Midwest Tour Super Late Models and the running of the Joe Shear Classic. It will be a 100 lap race with a break after 64 laps followed by a 36 lap shootout in honor of Shear. Joining the racing program on the 6th will be the Late Models battling it out on Wisconsin's Fastest Half-Mile in a non-points event.
The Scott Ollerman Memorial Race will be on Friday, June 8th and will feature the first leg of the Triple Crown Super Late Model Challenge. A large field of super late models is expected for the Triple Crown Series in 2012. MIS officials have announced that the Scott Ollerman Memorial will be a 100 lap main event. The Sportsman and Legends will also be on the racing program running their weekly points events.
The Johnny Ziegler 93 will take place on Friday, July 6th and will be the second leg of the Triple Crown Super Late Model Challenge. The Sportsman and Legends will join the program running points events for their weekly racing programs.
The ASA Midwest Tour will return to MIS on Sunday, August 5th. A support division will be announced shortly.
It has also been announced that Rockweiler Insulation Late Model teams who are MIS members and race at least 75% of their weekly events will be automatically locked into the Late Model feature during the 2012 Fall Classic on Saturday, September 22nd. More details regarding the Fall Classic will be released shortly.
